Step-by-Step Trezor Setup

1. Open Your Trezor Box

Begin by unboxing your Trezor device. Make sure that the holographic security seal is fully intact. This seal protects your wallet from tampering and is an essential security indicator. If the seal looks damaged or unusual, do not connect your device — instead, contact official Trezor support immediately.

2. Visit the Official Setup Page

In your browser, manually type Trezor.io/Start. Avoid clicking links from email, social media, or Google ads. This ensures that you access the real website and not a phishing clone designed to steal recovery phrases.

3. Download Trezor Suite

You will be prompted to download Trezor Suite — the official desktop software used to manage your assets, update firmware, create wallets, and authorize transactions. Choose the installer that matches your operating system.

4. Connect Your Trezor Device

After installing the Suite, connect your Trezor wallet via USB. The Suite will automatically detect the device and begin the initialization process.

5. Create or Recover a Wallet

You can either create a brand-new hardware wallet or recover an older one using an existing 12/24-word seed. If creating a new wallet, your Trezor will generate your seed phrase securely. Write it down on paper only — never store it online.

6. Secure Your Recovery Seed

Your recovery seed is the ultimate backup to your crypto wallet. Keep it hidden, keep it offline, and never share it with anyone. No employee, developer, or support agent will ever ask for it.

7. Set PIN & Optional Passphrase

Create a strong PIN to protect your device from unauthorized access. You can also enable the passphrase feature (optional), which creates an additional protected wallet layer.
